Saturno is a collectible design table that explores the relationship between lightness and weight, presence and perception. Defined by a circular marble top that appears to float above its base, the piece creates the illusion of a suspended disk—an object that seems to defy the heaviness of its own material.
At its core, Saturno integrates a concealed lighting element within its base. This hidden source of light subtly illuminates the underside of the marble surface, enhancing the perception of levitation and transforming the table into a soft, ambient centerpiece. The light is not decorative alone—it is instrumental, designed to elevate the dining experience by highlighting what is placed on the table.
Inspired by Chinese dining culture, where hosting is an act of care and presentation plays a central role, Saturno frames food as the true focal point. The table becomes a stage where dishes are not simply served, but revealed—gently lit, visually enhanced, and given presence. The act of dining is thus elevated into a more attentive and sensory experience.
The structure of the piece reinforces this duality. The base is carved from a single block of marble, grounding the table in solidity and permanence. Above it, a circular marble disk is supported with minimal visual interruption, often through transparent elements, creating a deliberate contrast between mass and lightness. What is physically heavy is perceived as almost weightless.
This tension between gravity and suspension becomes a defining characteristic of the design. Saturno does not deny the materiality of stone—it celebrates it—while simultaneously challenging how it is perceived. The name “Saturno” evokes the image of a celestial body encircled by a ring, reinforcing the idea of orbit, suspension, and harmony between elements. Much like its planetary reference, the table is composed of a central mass and a hovering disk, held together in a precise and delicate equilibrium.
Rooted in a dialogue between cultural sensibilities, Saturno combines the richness and craftsmanship of Italian marble with a spatial and social concept drawn from Chinese hospitality. This convergence results in a piece that is both materially expressive and experientially driven.
Produced as part of the V10 Gallery collection, Saturno is available in limited editions, with variations in marble selection, finishes, and dimensions.
