BACCO . 萄
Bacco is a collectible design piece that transforms discarded marble into a sculptural and functional object. Positioned between a side table and a stool, it is composed of fifteen marble spheres, each carved from small leftover blocks typically considered waste in the stone production process.
Rather than working with large, continuous slabs, Bacco begins with fragments—irregular pieces that would otherwise be discarded. These are carefully selected and carved into spheres, a process that reveals unexpected patterns within the stone. As the marble is shaped, its internal veining emerges in ways that cannot be predicted, turning each sphere into a unique natural composition.
Once assembled, the spheres form a structural base inspired by the geometry of traditional Chinese temple roofs. This reference introduces a sense of rhythm and balance, where individual elements work together to create a cohesive whole. The composition is then stabilized by a solid upper element—a heavier stone surface that anchors the piece and brings visual and physical equilibrium.
Visually, the clustered spheres evoke a composition reminiscent of grapes—an association that inspired the name “Bacco,” referencing the classical figure of Bacchus and the symbolic richness of the vine. This organic aggregation contrasts with the precision of the carving process, creating a dialogue between natural formation and human intervention.
The piece is defined by a balance between multiplicity and unity. Each sphere exists as an independent element, almost like a small planet with its own identity, yet collectively they support a single, functional form. This interplay gives Bacco a strong sculptural presence while maintaining versatility across different uses and environments.
At its core, Bacco reflects a philosophy of transformation. What begins as discarded material is reinterpreted into a refined object, where value is not only preserved but elevated. The process embraces unpredictability, allowing the natural qualities of the marble to guide the final outcome.
Produced as part of the V10 Gallery collection, Bacco is released in limited editions, with each piece inherently unique due to the variation in marble selection and internal veining. It can function as a side table, a stool, or a sculptural element within residential, hospitality, and gallery spaces.
